Valve
A device that controls the flow of liquids or gases in building systems.
Full Definition
A Valve is a mechanical device that controls, directs, or regulates the flow of fluids (liquids or gases) by opening, closing, or partially obstructing passageways. In HVAC systems, valves control water flow to coils, radiators, and terminal units. In plumbing systems, valves control domestic water, wastewater, and gas distribution. Types include ball valves, globe valves, check valves, balancing valves, and solenoid valves. Motorized valves are controlled by building automation systems.
