Pump
A mechanical device that moves fluids (water, refrigerant, etc.) through building systems.
Full Definition
A Pump is a mechanical device that moves fluids through building systems by creating flow or pressure. In HVAC systems, pumps circulate chilled water, hot water, or condenser water. In plumbing systems, pumps move domestic water, wastewater, or provide pressure boosting. Pumps are characterized by flow rate, head pressure, motor power, and can be controlled by variable frequency drives (VFDs) for energy efficiency.
